This song was inspired by a saying I heard when I was growing up: "Take me as I am by God or don't take me at all." It's something that stook with me after all these years. People will not be perfect and they will not live up to your expectations. There are things perfectly fine about a person one needs to accept. This song is a story about a young musician kicked out of his home by his family at 16 and the consequences that spur from that. Sometimes running away and being kicked out mean the same thing.

Ran away from home at the age of 16, Tried to make a living but he never made it clean.
